How much is my car's dateless registration number worth ?

Season Confalone: There is no way you can find this out, even the dvla will not tell you who the owner of the car is. Only the police have access to this info.

Tomeka Hameen: 1

Jestine Osumi: So when my car was still quite new, some one paid to have it re-registered on an Irish plate, so that it was not easy to tell how old it is - In the UK people pay lots of money to have dateless or personalised car reg numbers.EG On 101 dalmations the cruella deville's car registartaion pale is DEV IL, L suffix being 1 August 1972 â€" 31 July 1973...Show more

Eulah Hugill: Yo Spanner,Plates starting WIB were used mainly in Nothern Ireland, but are popular in England, Scotland and Wales as they are dateless. In the UK from 2001, the plates have been dated 02, 53, 03, 53 . . 09, 59 etc,so you can tell how old the car is. From the 1960s each year the last letter of the plate told how old the car was for eg abc, starting from the ealy 60s , A , B , C , D etc eg 123 ! T signified it was a 1978 or 9 carThen in the early 80 when Y was reached, they used A , B , C , D at the start of the plate eg F123 ABC was 1988 / 1999.They did not use some letetrs, such as I, Q. O and Z, so when they reached Y at the start of the plate, they had run out of combinations, so they started on the numbers. If you think that's complicated, a full description is given on WIKIhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_...A K plate was used on cars first registered between 1 August 1992 â€" 31 July 1993....Show more

Von Houskeeper: I really do not have sufficient knowledge of the procedure for registering cars and changing license plate in the United Kingdom to be able to help you a lot. I could, howver, add a few comments.A Volvo is considered to be an excellent car, having many features of expensive cars such as the BMW but being more affordable to most consumers. It is noted for requiring much less maintenance than are many other models of cars. ! As well, if you have to do repairs inside the motor, you have! more space within which to work than you would have in a smaller car imported from the far east. A car from the early 90s would have little retail value; however, its actual value would be much higher. I think that selling it would be a foolish manoeuvre. The registration number goes with the vehicle in Canada. If you sell the car, the vehicle's certificate of registration and certificate of identification must be handed over with the car to the person who buys it. If your car is scrapped the number and the pieces of paper can be retained but they would be useless to you other than for the retrieval of pertinent information. They would not have any monetary value, but they might come in handy for legal purposes if your possession of the car should ever become a matter before the courts of law. You can, in Canada, change your license plates and request a new license number. If you change cars, you are allowed to switch the license plates from the old vehicle to the ne! w car for a fee along with some paperwork at the vehicle registration office. The procedure probably would be much the same in other countries. I am not sure what you mean by the terms "WIB" and "K plate". Maybe you could calculate the transaction fee plus or minus the cost of the K plates and the trade in value of the WIB plate.I am sorry if my advice is "amateurish". I just felt sorry for you because nobody had answered your question up to now. :D I would advise you to hold onto the certificate of registration and the vehicle identification certificate if you do not sell the car just in case.If you drop a "spanner" into the motor of a smaller imported car it can cause you a lot of problems. hahaUPDATEWould the car's registration number, regardless of whether it is a K plate or a WIB plate, not be unique to that particular car and therefore useless to anybody else? Regardless of whether your car has a dateless licence plate, the make, model, age and general conditio! n would written all over the car in terms of its appearance and perform! ance....Show more
