crohns disease?

Karie Mavle: My sister has it, and it's not pretty. But then again, neither is Diabetes or any other illness. CrohnsDisease affects the gut and can range from mildto advanced cases. It is an inflammatory disease of the intestines, similar toUlcerative Colitis.Diet plays a strong role in managing the disease.Stress reduction helps too. One thing to remember is thatCrohns Disease is NOT contagious. Therefore, it is notan infectious disease. I can't catch it from my sister oranyone else who has it, and they can't give it to anyone. It is not a contributory illness such as Mumps orChicken Pox.Most people who have Crohns were born with it and it emerged later in life. It tends to present in adultsbut can often be seen in pediatric stages. My sister wasborn with a birth defect of the secum, and this is believedto be the source (but not the cause) of her CD. For moreinfo on Crohns Disease, contact the Crohns and ColitisFoundation of America or visit their website. It's a frequently ! misunderstood illness and knowing moreabout it can help you help someone who has it.CCFA has been a great help to me in assisting my sister....Show more

Wilfred Santacruce: I'm a mailman, and I used to deliver to Dr Crohn. ....I still have no idea what the disease is.

Penelope Armond: my mother in law was just diagnosed with it :(

Branden Round: my friend has it she has had many surgeries for adhesions in her bowels but is doing fine now she has to be careful not to eat really fatty food they seem to aggrevate her symptoms.

Tamatha Neubaum: My mom has it, and it was really horrible when she was in the process of being diagnosed. It seems like everything she ate just made her feel worst and worst, of course in my family we're bread heads, and my dad only ever bought wheat, so that didn't help. Now that she has been taking medication, things have become so much better for her and for us when we want to vacation and go out to eat now.
