What mental condition does Forrest Gump have?

Willis Liburd: I don't condone pinning a textbook classified illness on anyone. That's the reason why no one gets cured of their problems. Forrest Gump was a fictional character and therefore couldn't accurately reflect reality. But if I were to pretend, I would say he had no mental condition. He had all the right qualities and attributes. His disposition involuntarily became a tool that helped him avoid conforming to a society full of followers. If everyone thought the way he did, the world would be in better shape....Show more

Ronnie Panas: LOL, ok. I think he's just a high functioning retard. I'm not saying retard to be rude, it is the technical name before they changed it and started using the more politically correct term "mentally challenged". The only problem is that the term doesn't properly encompass the condition. Anyways though, I'd say his IQ is probably around 80. Normal is 100, dull normal is 90 and bright normal is 110. So 80 isn't horribly low ! but it does put someone into the retarded bracket....Show more

Eleni Mccier: Stupid is as stupid does

Rachell Meese: Never really thought about this

Robt Betker: Supposedly he had a low IQ, it says it right in the movie. He was mentally 'slow' or less intelligent than someone with a higher IQ. Honestly, there probably isn't a real condition like what he had. Someone with a low IQ would not have been as smart as he was!
